Amazon was great about it, they got me this one very quick and I could not be happier. This thing is very fast on boot, extremely responsive, and has a wonderful HD screen. Acer has always been good to me so I am looking forward to this experience. If you want a lot of computer for your money I do not think you will beat these 7552G-6061 Acer Aspires.

Canon FS4000US Film Scanner Review

(More customer reviews)Giventhe price, this is a great film scanner. But, it's not perfect.
First, it produces wonderful images with color depths up to 42 bits. Its scratch-removal system (FARE) works well (within limitations), and it seems reasonably quick (though I have nothing with which to compare it). Since it supports both SCSI-2 and USB, its versatility is hard to find - even in more expensive models. Setup was a snap. I just plugged it into my (Windows ME) USB port, added the software and voila!
There are some limitations: Unlike competing Nikon models, there are no accessories. And the scanner is made for 35mm only (slides, negatives and APS). As I said above, FARE seems to work very well. But if a negative is too scratched, the software will fail and may even hang your system.

Corsair 256 GB Performance Series Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) CMFSSD-256GBG2D Review

(More customer reviews)I just got this yesterday after a long weekend wait and let me tell you this thing rocks.And it rocks fast :).I am going to give you a review on a perspective of real world use and not on benchmark with all the numbers, not yet anyways.

I bought this for my MacBook Pro unibody and it is the best upgrade I have ever done.The speed is just simply mind boggling.I was shocked on how fast everything is.I am not talking about user wishful thinking, bias opinion of the speed gain, I am talking about screaming fast, jaw dropping speed.To give you some ideas on how fast this thing boots up, with the original stock drive, I got out a stop watch and timed it (not very scientific here but it'll do) and it took 1 minutes and 46 secs to cold boot the MacBook Pro into the desktop.With this new SSD, it took 22 seconds.

Applications loading is extremely fast as well.I mean, as soon as you hit the icon, the app is already fully loaded.I have a 8000 songs iTunes library plus about 40+ movies and 10 TV shows and iTunes loaded with lighting speed.It used to take at least a full minute to fully load iTunes, now it takes, literally 1 to 2 seconds (yes you read correct 1 to 2 secs to fully load iTunes).

I also have Photo collections with several thousands pics and it took, are you ready? It took 2.2 seconds to load the entire library.How cool is that?

Safari and FireFox are both stunning in loading speed with about 8 tabs of web pages.

My machine was running fairly cool with the old drive but when watching movies, the machine gets warm or sometimes hot to touch.With this SSD, I watched a full length 2 hour movie and the bottom of the MB Pro is steel cold.The fan never kicked on the entire movie.In fact I have not heard the fan since yesterday.To be fair, the MB Pro is so efficient that I never had any problem with heat or hear the fan noise but with the SSD drive, it is just dead quite.Very strange to use a completely noiseless and steel cold to the touch notebook.

About the drive.I did extensive research and found that this is one of the very best right now, watch out Intel (I think Intel still is the King).Before you get turned off my the name Corsair, it is really a Samsung drive with Samsung RAM chips and controller.Samsung has its own version of 256GB SSD but they only sell to OEM and not regular folks like you and me.

A tip:

Installation of the drive into MB Pro is very simple. Remove one screw that holds the drive and remove the 4 screws on the old drive (need special screw driver for these 4 screws). There is a video from OWC computing that shows exactly how to do it.

Painless upgrade:
I first put the SSD drive into an external USB enclosure.Downloaded SuperDuper, a free program to clone my old existing drive to the new SSD.Installed the SSD into MB Pro and boot it up.The first time booting up with SSD took a lot longer than what I stated earlier.I believe the OS needs to do some configuration for it first.After another reboot, the speed was astonishing.

I know that this is not cheap and I hear you.But if you want the joy of the greatest upgrade ever in the history of upgrading, this drive is the drive to get.Also, DO NOT go cheap on SSD drives.You get what you paid for.All SSDs are not created equal.Go do some research before buying but if you want to listen to someone who already did the research, read anything and everything on SSDs for years, then run, don't walk and buy this awesome drive.

(More customer reviews)I bought the Scansnap partly because of the glowing reviews here on Amazon, and I not disappointed.Rarely do I find a product worthy of 5 stars, but this little guy deserves it.As noted in some of the other reviews, the ScanSnap is sort of a one trick poney - it is designed to quickly scan and archive documents in PDF.Don't expect it do a good job with photos, and as noted, it won't do a grayscale image.

It's small size, ability to duplex, excellent document feeder, and fast operation make archiving large numbers of documents feasible.The driver software is simple to use, and you can create and save profiles for different scanning needs such as simplex, duplex, color, better quality etc.The profiles make it easy to switch settings on the fly.The vast majority of documents will be legible using the Normal (fastest) settiing, which helps keep file sizes small.For documents with very fine print, I found that the "Better" mode adds enough resolution to make even the smallest text legible.

The ScanSnap Organizer software that ships with the scanner is a simple Paperport-style document manager, in which you can create File Cabinets with Folders to organize your paperwork.What I like about it is that it the folder structure you create in the Organizer is mirrored on your harddrive with a ScanSnap directory and subdirectories named the same as the File Cabinets and Folders you create. You can therefore find your documents by just browsing your harddrive. Because the file format is PDF, you can't stack pages and documents together through the Organizer like you can in Paperport.You have do this in Acrobat and save the file.Organizer doesn't have a lot of advanced features, but I prefer the simplicity of it.

I went through a big pile of personal stuff in about an hour.It sure feels good to put that stack of paper into the shredder.Of course, the downside to archiving documents into digital format and getting rid of the originals (which I suppose is the point of the endeavor) is the possibility of data loss.You'd better adopt a reduntant backup strategy, because hard disc drives can and do fail.I sycnhonize to multiple computers and will write my files to DVD for protection. I suppose if you're really cautious, you could subscribe to one of the online backup services for secure off-site backup.

If you think the price is a little stiff, remember this scannor duplexes, which enormously simplifies the archiving process by eliminating the need to flip and rescan pages.Also, by duplexing, all pages are put into a single file in the proper order.I'd also point out again that the document feeder is truly remarkable in it's ability to feed just about any size and shape with out jamming.You can even do receipts that come on slick thermal paper.Occasionally ScanSnap will make a mistake in page orientation or will crop improperly.I found this happens with half-length documents, which you need to insert sideways to scan properly.

One of the reasons this package was appealing to me is because it comes with Acrobate Standard 7.0.A word of warning -Adobe has seen fit to remove all the form-making features from Acrobat Standard, though they left the ability to insert and remove pages, annotate and comment.If you want the all the great features of Acrobat to create forms, you have to buy the Pro version.

(More customer reviews)This is a great system and never had an issue with it until last week when computer just stopped working.No matter what I do, I cannot reboot.And convenient for HP, my warranty expired last month.I suspect it is a Vista issue, but HP should bare some responsibility for using inferior products.Either pay the extended warranty fee or look elsewhere.Customers should not be replacing a $2,000 computer system 13 months after purchase!Ridiculous.

(More customer reviews)Having used scanners from Canon, Xerox, Lanier, Visioneer and Epson, I have a good base from which to compare this scanner.It is excellent!The feed mechanism on this scanner is superior to all prior scanners I have used, including other scanners in this price range.This unit has multiple rollers located in the base and cover that spin at different speeds to pull only one sheet at a time.In other scanners, folded paper - like documents received in an envelop - will double/multi feed.I have not had a single double feed with this unit.I am using it with File Center Pro software to convert more than 1,600 legal files to paperless .pdf format.I was so impressed with this unit that I now have 4 of them in the office, each going at least 8 hours per day with virtually no jams or double feeds.It's worth the money for an office setting where you don't have time for jams and double feeds.

However, make sure you check the vendors item model number in the details section. Because in most cases it is the ASUS P7P55D PREMIUM motherboard which is NOT the ASUS P7P55D-E PREMIUM motherboard. There's a big difference between the two motherboards.

NOTE: The ASUS P7P55D PREMIUM motherboard does NOT have USB 3.0I've had to return three motherboards so far because they were all the ASUS P7P55D PREMIUM motherboards, and not the ASUS P7P55D-E PREMIUM motherboard.

Unfortunately I can't say that for VISTA! I ended up putting XP back on this system and it runs great. It comes with XP and VISTA drivers, so you can go either way. I would highly recommend this motherboard for the foundation on your new system!

If you need full features,(read: more than a netbook) but don't want to carry a full size screen or play games, this is the computer for you.The swivel touch screen is excellent to use as you travel, in tight spaces, a dorm, on deployment or for light field/warehouse work and the light pen is perfect for real signatures and as an alternate input/ pointing and art devise. But the truth is that I don't use these functions that much. The thumb print log in is great for fast access once you work with it a bit and the battery life is decent (not great but decent)But all that said, it is a niche product... Far more capable than a netbook but too heavy to replace one.If you can live with all your data in the Cloud then you can live with a Netbook.But if you are a road warrior, Soldier or student and want/need full function minus gaming this is the box for you.Please note, You could save quite a bit(at least $300) by foregoing the swivel screen, finger print reader and light pen with another notebook.However, I suspect we will all turn more to netbook type devices in the future.If so this is the bridge to the netbook for those who don't have connectivity every place they work or those who need full function.

(More customer reviews)I had a good HP monitor "or so I thought" but could never get good prints on my professional large format photo printer. What does one have to do with the other? EVERYTHING thats what! Even though my old monitor was calibrated monthly my prints were always dark and skin tones looked really bad considering what I saw on screen and the fact that the images came out of my Canon DSLR's and "L" glass and I always shoot in RAW mode. Then I learned that most consumer monitors are of the TL variety and don't accurately display enough gamut to do professional work. I always wondered why the pros used $2,500.00 Eizo monitors when you could get the same size one at Best buy that looked just as good to the naked eye for $300.00. This is not an Eizo but it's as close as you can get for $750.00 and is light years ahead of the consumer ones at Best Buy. And as soon as I plugged this bad boy in and calibrated it with a Huey ALL my printing problems disappeared. I can now print with professional results that look extremely close to what it shows on the monitor for the first time ever. I have been fighting that one for years now, tried different printers, calibrating equipment, Photoshop CS3 & CS4, Lightroom and it still looked terrible. New high end monitor and problem solved!!! SOOOO, if your a photographer spend the extra money to get an SPVA or similar type and stay away from the cheap TN monitors that places like Best Buy sell. If all you want is a gaming monitor or something for general use then get a cheap TN type. (More customer reviews)The 3.2 ghz you get clocked is amazing but with a liquid coolent system you can bump it up to 4.5ghz in a cool enviroment but I wouldnt push it past there or you just might start killing small animals. works well in a dual chip set motherboard I ran two them on Dual LGA 771 Extended ATX Motherboard that sell for a decent $140 but ended up just about frying one running SupCom with mods gallor and max graf on one mon and photoshop pro on the other, with about 15 other high pull programs in the back ground, so I was asking for it. One thin to watch out for in the top chipset on the motherboard heats up a lot faster than the lower one.

Western Digital WDA4NC80000N ShareSpace 8 TB 4-bay Network Attached Storage Gigabit Ethernet (RAID 0/1/5) Review

My history with SOHO NAS so far hasn't been all that good. The WD ShareSpace is the third NAS type device I've owned. The previous two (a 1 TB WD MyBook Pro II used as a NAS device through my Apple Airport Extreme and a 2 TB OWC Raidon NAS/RAID) were both returned. The WD MyBook Pro II had a drive sleep issue with the Airport Extreme. (See below.) The OWC Raidon NAS/RAID couldn't set user permissions properly running as a Mac formatted drive. As for the Western Digital ShareSpace 4TB 4-Bay NAS RAID, so far it appears to be the best of the lot.

After completely setting up the drive yesterday evening (in no more than an hour), overnight I did a complete restore of the 60 GB or so I have backed up of our home business data to the WD ShareSpace. It was seamless. When I woke up this morning all the data was there just as it should be. Then I copied my 47 GB iTunes library over from my Mac Pro to the ShareSpace Public:Shared Music folder. (The shared folders are created by WD and ship with the drive.)

So what do I have?

* Effectively in RAID 5 I have 2.68 TB of available storage (my 60 GB barely touches the surface.)

* I have access to my entire iTunes library from every Mac and PC in the house

I can now have an iTunes server without having to have a Mac acting a server or buying another separate device. The ShareSpace can handle multiple audio streams over the 1 GB/s NAS interface without breaking a sweat. (I have read in the WD FAQ that there is an issue with multiple audio streams and simultaneous file downloads, but I haven't run into this issue yet.) The only downside is, while you can access all the music (including MP3s and DRM AAC,) you can only run iTunes in List View, not Grid or Cover Flow. That's a bit of a bummer, but I expect that this is more of a limitation of iTunes than it is of the ShareSpace.

* Access as Administrator to all the drive shares.

At first this might not sound like a big deal. But unlike my Windows 2000 Advanced Server, all the previous NAS drives I've owned to date wouldn't allow me to access shares that I don't "own." My wife's share, for example, was not accessible to me. So why would I want that anyway? Simply because it makes backing up the entire NAS so much easier. What I've had to do in the past to access all shares for backup was to physically disconnect the NAS drive from the network and attach it via the USB port to my Mac Pro. Doing so overrides the read/write privileges of the NAS because now it appears as just another external drive attached to the Mac Pro. I did my backups and then had to eject the drive from the Mac Pro and reconnect it to the network. It was a bit of a pain. The ShareSpace overcomes this by allowing me to apply Admin privileges to my user account. Now when it's the weekly backup time I can simply mount all the shares on line and do the backup in one fell swoop.

* A green device

To save energy, the ShareSpace spins the four drive's speed down when they are not being used. This is a big improvement over the MyBook Pro II. I wound up sending it back because it completely shut down the drives when they weren't in use and the Airport Extreme couldn't wake them up again.

* A very quiet RAID/NAS

The drive runs very quietly. I can barely hear the fan. If the home office is dead quiet and I get right up next to the ShareSpace, I can hear the clicking of the drive heads as they read and write data--but that's completely tolerable. The Mac Pro, no noise generator itself, is louder than the ShareSpace.

I haven't done any file transfer performance testing yet. However, I do find that the device does well delivering streamed audio (and probably streamed video as well.) From what I've read and experienced with very large file transfers, it doesn't appear that WD hasn't put all that much oomph into the network driver and interface. (Yes, the ShareSpace does support Jumbo Frames over Gigabit Ethernet.) For now I don't plan to post-process any of my RAW files in Photoshop or Lightroom 2 on the ShareSpace. I'll leave that task up to the internal SATA drives in my Mac Pro.

The bottom line may be that the WD ShareSpace is a flexible, easy to manage device with tons of storage. But if you are looking for an absolute speed demon RAID/NAS this may not be your first choice. Pros:

* Great, great management tools via the web interface.
* Pretty decent management security (log in and HTTPS.)
* Tons and tons of on-line storage.
* RAID 5 capability.
* Very easy drive discovery.
* Bonjour spupport means that there is no need to guess what DHCP IP address has been assigned to the drive.
* No need to be an IT expert to manage the drive.
* Flexible and straightforward account and share management.
* Easy, easy, easy to use.
* 4 TB of RAID 5 for a decent price. Are you kidding me?
* Mostly all metal construction (how rare is that these days?)
* Stable drive enclosure that won't slide around on the desk or table easily.
* Design is okay. A bit techy looking, but it won't offend anyone either.Cons:

* I'd prefer to have an integrated power supply, although the brick power supply is better and more rugged than most I've seen.
* Let's have "real" documentation included. The "Quick Start" documentation is anemic. The on-line documentation is okay, but it has to be printed for a device this expensive and flexible.
* Virtually no software included. They include a backup application and the documentation on a CD. That's about it. But, to tell the truth I'd rather spend my dollars for the hardware and not for software "throw ins."
* Failed (or added) drive must be Western Digital drives. No other vendors are supported. Boo!
* Case opens like a PC. This is not complex matter, but drive access could have been made easier. (How about a door that swings open? Other vendors have done just that.)
* Drives are not hot swappable.
* File transfer speeds may be on the slow side.Overall so far: Most of the cons are nits or easy to live with. Highly recommended. All-in-all a very excellent way to provide RAID/NAS for a SOHO environment.

(More customer reviews)I bought this computer basically for browsing the Internet and doing other minor tasks, listening to music, creating documents, watching TV and Movies etc. I haven't run any labor intensive programs yet (I've only had it for a couple days). I was going to play around with it for a while before deciding to upgrade to the 2GB RAM. So far so good. I haven't had any of the HD vibrations or excessive noise the other reviewer had. The battery life is phenomenal. I can't believe I can use a laptop this long and not have to be plugged in.

My only gripe is the Windows 7 Starter that comes installed. I have heard great things about "7" and couldn't wait to try it. For someone who likes to "play" with settings, configurations and stuff, the starter edition is not the way to go. You can't even change your desktop from the boring windows logo. I did not think about reviewing the Windows 7 Starter edition before buying. I may have to spend additional money upgrading to the Home Edition. If you are going to buy this laptop make sure Windows 7 Starter is for you.

All in all very happy with the netbook and will serve my purposes wonderfully, just wish I would have looked at Windows 7.
