(More customer reviews)Ordered on 6th feb, left Memphis TN on 8th, reached Miami FL feb 10 with free standard shipping from amazon and then I got it in Trinidad 2 days later via a skybox. The motherboard was the only item ordered and it came in a slightly bigger box with brown paper padding on the outer edges, I uploaded a pic of it here.

The board worked as soon as I powered it on. I first used a usb keyboard but when the system woke up from sleep the left side of the board would be messed up and show multiple keys in an area being pressed when only one was pressed, eg when I typed 'a' it would show 'as' in Word. The same keyboard works perfectly on every other system I have and it corrects itself if i unplug and replug it back in even if it is the same port. It is not just the usb 2.0 or just the 3.0 ports, I get the problem for all ports on the back, I did not try the front ports on the case. I have switched to a ps/2 keyboard and it works perfectly now.

Another issue is the 1 terabyte hard drive (WD1001FALS) I use makes a funny noise when plugged into any one of the blue sata ports, it sounds like it is shutting down but midway it spins back up again, it may be a power setting somewhere, but it is random and the sound comes every 5 - 10 mins whether I am using the system lightly on the internet, or doing nothing just staring at the screen. While gaming or watching a movie I have the music on loudly so I'm not sure if it happens then too. If I use either of the white sata ports the sounds never comes which is why I suspect it is a setting somewhere. The system never freezes or stalls, the mouse always moves smoothly with the funny sound on.

About a week ago after I was looking around the bios and the system restarted the system did not boot. The power led kept blinking as it normally did during booting (it does not stay steady as with most other systems) but it did not beep and never booted. To get the system to boot I had to unplug the power cable and pop the battery on the board out then let it sit for a few mins. I then updated the bios to f5 from f1 revision using the windows utility, the same thing happened the first time I restarted after the bios update but not since. The drivers on the CD included were installed with no problem. The Easy Tune 6 app does give an error message when it starts up but runs properly I think.

The board has all the necessary settings to overclock the cpu and the memory. The i5 steps down and back up in speed as necessary. I do not have any usb 3.0 devices to check the speed on the ports.My XFX 5770 which uses 2 slots just meets the top of the level of the first pci slot, so I consider it blocked, I would not squeeze a pci card in to block air for the fan on the 5770.

I am very happy with this build and I see it lasting me well into the future. When games get even more demanding I will use xfire and a SSD and mayb overclock.

NOTE: - Make sure you get an ATX V2.2 or 2.3 power supply with an 8-pin EPS connector as this board requires it.
- I had to choose 'Profile 1' in the bios under XMP profile for the board to recognise the memory as 1600mhz, 9-9-9-24, the default was 1300 mhz.System specs:

(More customer reviews)I grabbed this SSD to replace a boring 160G 5400rpm drive that came with my Netbook (Lenovo S10)get to enjoy instant access to everything.there is no spin-up time, the concept of drive sleep no longer exists.Boot time is like 70-80% faster.The system is now completely silent, and I don't feel like I have to coddle it, because the hard drive is spinning.It adds a new freedom to computers.I didn't get the laptop bundle (Kingston SSDNow V-Series SATA2 128 GB 2.5-Inch Solid State Drive with Notebook Upgrade Kit Bundle SNV125-S2BN/128GB) because it was out of stock at the time, however that is a better deal that this, because it gives you an enclosure for the old drive.Since I already had a 2.5" enclosure, this one was OK for me.

Overall, the SSD is a great improvement over my old hard drive, The company behind the product is also good, and I highly recommend it.Pros:
Faster that a hard drive because there is no spin-up or seek time
Uses less power (Better battery life on the notebook)
Far more durable -- (you don't have to be a careful as you must be when dealing with a spinning hard drive)

Cons:
Far more expensive than a comparable hard drive.
MLC based SSD's can wear out with constant writing.The manufacturers have special algorithms to minimize the wear of a single memory cells, so I figured that if Kingston can warrant it for 3 years, its no problem for me.

(More customer reviews)Representing a fairly large school district, we considered buying this product to use with our tablet pc's and mounted projectors.The first product we tried (PC2TV) did not even come close the features and quality of this product.Their solution uses wi-fi (802.11G) standard to connect which is very slow in comparison and interferes with our regular network traffic.When you have a lab with 30+ wireless tablets, you cannot spare the bandwidth for the pc2tv device.The IOGEAR product fixes all that.

Using the new Wireless USB standard (haven't seen another device using this tech yet it's so new) it has 9 times the bandwidth of wi-fi (480Mbps).What's that means, is that it can do really high resolutions and be very smooth.I was playing a standard DVD, at 1680X1080 resolution, and boy is it smooth.It does drop a frame here and there, but compared to the pc2tv device, there simply is no comparison.

Tested on Vista.Once the driver is installed, I can plug in the dongle to any usb port and it automatically connects and extends my desktop.To change to clone mode or resolutions, all you have to do right click an icon near the clock (system tray) and pick it.Changing USB ports does not require a driver reinstallation.

The dongle and the device come pre-associated, so you don't have to worry about the device in the next room interfering.However, if you want to connect to multiple devices, so far the only way is to briefly connect your laptop to the device using the supplied mini usb cable.Hopefully they will have a wireless method to do this in the future.

(More customer reviews)Ordered this last week because I needed a really cheap back up PC. You get the slim tower, power plug, usb keyboard and optical mouse. Windows xp is pre-installed without service pack 2 and my order came with a dvd/cd player installed but no rewriter. All i can say is that it works. If you're looking for a basic pc to just browse the net and download music and videos(no hd) then it's fine. Obviously you'll want to upgrade the ram, video card, and hard drive if you plan on making this your main pc but for something cheap to hop online and do some stuff it's great. While the 2.8 pentium 4 processor is ancient it gets the job done for basic tasks. I'm still amazed that this only cost $65 before shipping. I've seen people on craigslist selling old models like this for $100 and more.

Dell Studio 1737 17-Inch Laptop (Obsidian Black) Review

(More customer reviews)This is the Dell Studio 15 inch laptop (Green Colored Case). I think this a great lap top and it gets the job done. I kept reading all the negative reviews and i have no idea why there's so much bad press. I have never once called customer service and i ordered my laptop at Dell directly through their website. I have no reason to contact customer service and i never experienced any problems at all with any of my Dell products. I get so baffled when i read all these negative reviews. My Dell products which i have had for years including a Dell desktop and a recently purchased new netbooks have never been a problem. The desk top i have is more than 6 years old and I never have any problems. It runs great. It can definitely benefit from an upgrade in some areas.

The Studio line is Dell's midrange laptops. The Inspiron being there low end range for consumers that just need a standard laptop. The Dell Studio laptop is completely plastic and it's a bit on the heavy side in my opinion. Maybe because i am so use to my light weight Dell 10 min netbook that i have been spoiled. This is a good lap top. However, i think the flaw in Dell is that their products can get very pricey very quickly. Especially when you are adding in high end features like 6GB RAM rather than 3GB RAM or 2.99GHZ instead of 2.33GHZ etc. You can get the same thing at HP for probably around a hundred dollars less and their quality feels a bit more refined, polished, and sturdy. That being said if you check Dell's website they do have deals going on all the time especially on holidays. But for some reason the price never seems as low as it should be. If you check periodically you will find yourself a deal. I go to that website religiously and build the exact same laptop that I have and it always comes up to more money. I got mine on a special promo.

I really regret getting the green covered case. I didn't realize how bright it would be and once i opened it out of the box - I really wish i purchased the Dark Blue or Dark Purple colored case. It's really way too bright. I like the personalization options of the different colors, but i really do regret getting this bright Caribbean green color. My laptop also includes the backlit keyboard which is great for typing in the dark. It also has touch sensitive controls towards the top of the keyboard near the speakers and i think that's a great plus. The DVD is also an optical drive, so there is no door that slides out for you to pop in your DVD. It's like a Playstation 3 slot. You slide the DVDs in & out.

Q700 Sff E5400 500GB Review

(More customer reviews)I purchased the Lenovo Q700 to use exclusively as a home theater PC.Its small size and black finish make an unobtrusive addition to the livingroom decor.My only complaint about its appearance are the bright blue flashing lights on the front which indicate power-on/sleep state, and disk activity.I'm looking for some translucent tape to cover the LEDs to reduce their intensity.

The Q700 is very quiet.The internal fan and hard disk drive produce a barely perceptible sound; nothing to spoil the movie watching experience.

It comes with a nice remote control for Windows Media Center, but like the remotes for my other HT components, it's been replaced by a universal remote (URC RF20). The supplied keyboard has a nice feel and a look of quality, but the keys have to be pressed down hard to ensure registration.I replaced the included keyboard and mouse with more appropriate wireless versions which I can use from the sofa on rare occasions.The Windows interface grahics and text is a bit to small to read comfortably from a distance of 10+ feet even on a large screen TV.

The Q700 comes loaded with Windows 7 and Windows Media Center.This was my first experience with either and I'm impressed with design and performance of these Microsoft products.My one wish is that it be possible to more easily customized the WMC menus to better match my HTPC setup.I prefer the MediaBrowser add-on for accessing my movie library.I was able to hide the unneeded WMC "Movies" menu item, but only by editing the Windows registry. This is not something a novice should expect to do.

The Q700 performs well as an HTPC.I cannot think of any situations where the Intel Dual Core was unable to keep up with the processing load.Any lack of responsiveness in the WMC interface can be attributed to the universal remote, not the PC itself.

The built-in TV tuner is very good.It performs as well as the my Samsung HDTV tuner. I use it as my primary tuner so that all TV functions are included in the WMC interface.I wish the PC was equipped with a second tuner so that I could watch another channel when a TV program is being recorded.As is, one has to switch over to the HDTV tuner to watch a different channel, a more complex operation than I prefer.

Another minor complaint about the Q700 is that the analog audio outputs are not parallel to the HDMI output.If a line is plugged into the green audio output jack on the back of the Q700, the audio to the HDMI is interrupted.The same is true for the front audio (headphone) jack.I wanted to feed the analog audio output to the whole house audio amplifier.As is, the lines have to be manually plugged in whenever whole house audio is desired.

Depending on your intended use of the HTPC, the 500 GB hard disk drive may not be adequate for storage of music and video.My movie library contains only 160 DVD quality movies which consume about 600 GB.I don't know how easy it is to replace the Q700's HDD with a larger capacity drive.I decided to include network accessible storage (NAS), expandable to several terabytes, to accommodate my expanding movie and music library storage requirements.

In my opinion, buying an HTPC like the Lenovo Q700 is preferable to using a standard desktop PC or tying your home theater into your office PC using an extender.A standard desktop PC is too noisy and consumes a lot of power compared to a device like the Q700.Using an extender (like the HP X280N, if you can find one these days) will reduce overall performance of your system and make unavailable some WMC features.

I highly recommend the Lenovo Q700 as an HTPC.

(More customer reviews)I am so impressed with this little Gateway Netbook.I had no trouble registering my name as a user without a password (see previous review).Immediately, it recognized my wireless network and asked my if I wanted to join it.All I had to do was enter my Encryption Code and I was online!I also bought the Anytime 7 Upgrade and loaded it with ease.It did take about an hour (instead of 10 minutes) because there were 40 new upgrades to the Home Edition to download.It proceeded without difficulty and restarted itself.

I had no trouble getting used to the slightly smaller keyboard and the display is incredibly bright with excellent resolution.To save battery, the system dims the display if unused for a couple of minutes, but re-brightens as soon as you touch a key or the keypad.It also quickly goes to "sleep" to save battery power, but comes back after touching a key and clicking on your user name.

I also bought a wireless Logitech mouse to go with it.The transmitter is very tiny and fits into the USB 2.0 port of which there are three.Two more are left over for flash drives or whatever such as a CD/DVD drive.

The whole unit with the 3 cell battery is incredibly lightweight at only 2.6 lbs. and feels like a feather in your hand.I am looking forward to learning more about Windows 7 and surfing the net with this tiny netbook!

(More customer reviews)I bought this computer basically for browsing the Internet and doing other minor tasks, listening to music, creating documents, watching TV and Movies etc. I haven't run any labor intensive programs yet (I've only had it for a couple days). I was going to play around with it for a while before deciding to upgrade to the 2GB RAM. So far so good. I haven't had any of the HD vibrations or excessive noise the other reviewer had. The battery life is phenomenal. I can't believe I can use a laptop this long and not have to be plugged in.

My only gripe is the Windows 7 Starter that comes installed. I have heard great things about "7" and couldn't wait to try it. For someone who likes to "play" with settings, configurations and stuff, the starter edition is not the way to go. You can't even change your desktop from the boring windows logo. I did not think about reviewing the Windows 7 Starter edition before buying. I may have to spend additional money upgrading to the Home Edition. If you are going to buy this laptop make sure Windows 7 Starter is for you.

All in all very happy with the netbook and will serve my purposes wonderfully, just wish I would have looked at Windows 7.
