(More customer reviews)When I first opened the box I was overwhelmed but having built a couple other computers I took a breath and started at the installation of the cpu and fan and worked my way up. There are a lot of extra and plenty of cords to go around. I installed xp pro 64 and it went without a hitch. Everything worked even the wifi. The wifi was a little hinky in xp pro 64 but when I went to Vista 64 it works great now. I love the ability of two pci-e but made the mistake of getting ati card and it works butto use two they have to be nvidia. Next year I will replace with two good nvidia cards. I would build another computer any time with this. Asus rocks!

I've been usingthis scanner for about two months and I can only say that it's worth everycent you put on it.Colors are great, detail is incredible, the resolutionallows really big output (around 12.5 X 8.5 at 300DPI - even bigger if youuse 250DPI). But the biggest star is ICE. Ok, it doesn't work on B&Wfilm, but the time it saves you from retouching on Photoshop more than paysfor this scanner. And ICE comes in two flavors - normal or sharpen. You canimprove sharpness while removing scratches and dust. Mine came with thelatest firmware (1.31), but I updated to the software's latest version(2.5.1) via download. The software works fine. Specially if you know how touse curves to correct color casts, improve details on certain areas, etc.And it has a very special feature that makes it better than all others I'veseen - you can resize the preview window to the size of your monitor. Youcan't imagine how much this little detail helps on correcting or improvingeach scan. Great. The Nikon Coolscan III (LS-30) is such a good scannerthat I don't believe paying more for the LS 2000 makes sense. Ok, the otherhas 36 bit and multiscan for improved shadow detail. But until now I neverfelt the need for this. Or for throwing US$ 700 more on a scanner. Betterbuy another Coolscan III... Ah, with Vuescan, a third party software, youcan do multiple scanning on the Coolscan III for better shadow detail. Ithas a nice place for storing the transport screws on the back, has built-intermination. The connectors are HDI-50. It comes with a cable (HDI-50 to 25pin SCSI), but if your SCSI chain has other equipment and you want to placeit right after the computer, you'll probably need another HDI-50 to otherconnector cable. As with most things Nikon, it feels solid as a rock.Certainly will last a long time. Hope as much as the faithful Nikon Fs.Looks like. It's hard to go wrong with the Nikon Coolscan III.

(More customer reviews)I usually do not write reviews but this time after spending so much time doing a research on a good external RAID1 hard drive and finding no useful information I figured I'll write one up to save other people time and money.
I've read a whole bunch of reviews on Amazon and other websites all people complaining about DriveStation Duo RAID-1 configuration on Windows. Not sure what those people did wrong but they definitely got me concerned before buying this unit.
Before choosing this unit I've compared whole bunch of products available. I was looking for external hard drive either USB or NAS that supports RAID-1 for redundancy and I need to have a flexibility to swap one of the hard drives if needed in case it crashes after warranty expires by not going to the manufacture. Out of all products I looked at (Linksys, Buffalo, Maxtor, Iomega, SimpleTech and many others) I liked Linksys NAS200 the best as it gives you most flexibility with hard drives you choose and Linksys usually have a pretty good software to configure and maintain their hardware but the only downside with NAS200 was the speed. I don't need high transfer rates but I do need at least 10Mb/sec when NAS200 was producing around 3Mb/sec.
When I got the hard drive the one thing I was concerned about is configuring it for RAID-1 based on all the problems other users had (from reviews). I just ran a disk utility that comes with the drive, connected hard drive via USB and then configured it for RAID-1. It was that easy. No problems on Windows XP as other people reported. Then I just formatted the drive using Disk Management utility and it is ready to go.
I even decided to test redundancy so I copied some files to the drive and shut it down and pulled out one drive out of it. Started it back up and the drive was accessible with all the files there. So then I shut it down again and reconnected the drive and it started rebuilding it. According to their doc on the website it is supposed to take 8-11 hours for 500Gb hard drive but after 18 hours it did not finish and I decided to call tech support. After calling tech support they confirmed that the reconnected drive will not rebuild since it expects brand new drive RAW formatted and a drive formatted other than RAW it will go in infinite loop trying to rebuild it. First tech support suggested to format the drive while it was rebuilding it (which I didn't think was a good idea but did it anyway) and that didn't work (2-3 hours wasted). Then after keeping me on hold while (probably) reading some documentation tech support rep. said that because I opened up front cover the warranty is void and they can't replace it for me so he suggested returning back to the place where I got it from since there's no way to fix the problem any more. Then I figured I'll take it into my own hands and tried using DiskUtility to change the drive back to Normal Mode (2 independent drives) and that worked fine but changing it back to RAID-1 failed with misspelled error "Disk Restracturing failed". So, I formatted each drive using FAT32 (back to default formatting) and then tried converting it back to RAID-1 and it worked just fine.
At the end here are pros and cons of this hard drive:
+ Supports RAID-1
+ High transfer rate
+ Auto-power shut off (via USB). Nice feature. Starts up the drive when you start up your computer and shuts it off when you shut down computer.
+ Swappable hard drives. After hands on experience with the hard drive I found out that it will not be that easy to change them, but at least it'll get you the data if one crashes.
+ Easy to access hard drives - just few screws away
+ No need to install all kinds of drivers and whole bunch of useless memory and CPU wasting software to make this unit work. It is literally Plug-n-Play. Windows recognizes this unit without any issues. You can format it using Disk Management in Windows.
+ Comes with 2 Seagate hard drives and not some proprietary like other manufactures
- 1 year warranty. Some websites advertise 3 years warranty for this drive but support confirmed that it is actually 1 year
- Tech support. Doesn't seem like they know what they're talking about. They kept putting me on hold every time I ask them any question. My guess, they were looking for answers in some documents because they didn't know. Really takes them long time to come back with an answer and at the end those answers are useless and misleading.
So at the end, the drive seems to be performing as advertised. I got about 30Mb/sec when copying large files and over 100Mb/sec when copying some MP3 files. At the end, I think this is a good bang for the buck.

(More customer reviews)I helped a friend with this CPU (he went all out and spent 3k on the entire computer) about 2 years ago and he still has it to this day.
This CPU is an extreme edition (meaning it has an unlocked multiplier) and can overclock very nicely for enthusiasts. This is not difficult to overclock to 4.0GHz and over on good air cooling. It's 12mb of L2 cache and wide variety of instruction sets ensures all programs run smooth and fast. This cpu will perform very well in CPU benchmarks such as Mark06 and Vantage.
However, one of the problems is heat. It's TDP is already over 130w, so you need a good CPU cooler/HSF. High end overclocking demands either a high end HSF with 120mm fans, or water cooling. Furthermore, another problem is the price and timing of the release. This CPU is overpriced for the now obsolete 775 socket. The i7 920 came out 9 months after this CPU was released and outperformed it by a good margin - with less heat, better architecture, features such as hyper threading and turbo boost, etc.
Furthermore, even for Core2Quads series, this CPU doesn't offer the best bang-for-your-buck. A Q9550 and Q9650 costs around $200-$300 (1/5 price), $300-$400 respectively (1/3 price) and performs almost the same. The Q9550 and Q9650 dont't have unlocked multipliers, but will still hit an overclock near 4.0GHz with good air cooling.Pros:
1. Fast and top of the line Core2Quad
2. unlocked multiplier for enthusiast overclocking
Cons:
1. Expensive when it first came out, still expensive now
2. Came out less than a year before i7s, which made socket 775 outdated and obsolete
3. Outperformed by far cheaper i5's and i7's today.
4. Loses in bang-for-your-buck to cheaper Core2Quads such as the Q9550
5. Produces a lot of heat > 130w TDP

(More customer reviews)When i first opened my $200 (i bought them early when they were only 200 then they uped it to 250) speakers i thought the sound would be amazing.WEll the bass was great but the satelites weren't "heavenly".Then i went online and found out that you need to break in new speakers for 20 hours to get best performance.So everyday when i left for work i started leaving them on until i hit 20 hours.I put on a good song and it was awesome.The sattelites were unbelieveable and the bass was even more great.So this really woke the lion.One little thing that annoys me, The sattelite speakers hiss a little when no music is on but nothing nerve racking.All i do Is just hit the snazzy mute (touch sensitive) and its the hissing is gone, nothing to not buy them over.So i absolutely love mine and bose surely held up its name.Great for music and works ok for games but go for 5.1 if you're into hard gaming and movies.One more thing these speakers aren't the best on hard rock or something where there's guitars and drums banging alot.But it's awesome on pop techno hiphop classical etc.Also be sure you got a good sound card i have an audigy LS and it's great for the price.TWo thumbs up!!

Konica Minolta PagePro 1350W Laser Printer Review

(More customer reviews)This was a great printer as far as print quality and speed... but what Minolta doesn't tell you in advance is that if you either refill the cartridge or use a non-new or non-factory cartridge, the printer goes into "deep cleaning" mode (permanently) while printing and slows down to about 6ppm. It won't go back up to regular speed unless you install a new Minolta cartridge.
This, of course, is a completely bogus excuse for forcing you to buy Minolta toner (which costs $130).
I called tech support to confirm that there was no workaround, and the woman I spoke with had received 4 complaints that morning on that issue.
So I sent it back and bought a Samsung ML-1710, which, although a little bit slower (17ppm instead of 21) can use any toner and seems like an excellent little printer.

(More customer reviews)The wait to get this printer was well worth it!I love the speed and quality of the prints.I not all that happy about how hard it is to find paper in the 17" x 22" or 17" roll sizes.The other thing was finding ink cartridges and the maintain tank replacements. These items seem to be out of stock just as much as the printer.There is a little bit of a learning curve but in the end the pictures are outstanding and worth every bit of the current problems in getting ink and the maintain tank.I was surprise by the size and it does need heavy duty desk or stand.But again it works great out of the box and better once you learn how to use all the settings.I suggest if you get this printer that you plan ahead in ordering extra ink and other maintain tank if you going to do a lot of printing.Everyone that has seen the pictures are very impress and I had one person wanting buy a picture I was just showing off.This is a great printer!!

(More customer reviews)We've owned the DR-2050C for about 8 months at our office, shared by 8 users.Setup took an hour or two, but went as smoothly as can be expected.You need to install 3 software programs to be complete.We are using it on an old, spare, Pentium 3 machine. I added a high-speed USB 2.0 card to the machine which definitely gives the scanner better speed.We don't use all the features but for just scanning loads of old paper, it works great.NOTE: It does pick up dirt easily, causing streaks in the output.The front-side lens is very hard to reach, and the mfr. is very cautious about how to clean it. (Their recommendation did not get the gunk out.) I called their Tech Support and he suggested using alcohol on a cotton cloth to clean the lenses, but must be careful not to get alcohol on the rubber rollers.We clean it regularly now-- whenever it shows streaks-- and it is fine.I would buy another one for the home, but the price is still too high.Hopefully prices of these things willfall in the future.
