(More customer reviews)This is actually my first ASUS board. I have been using MSI products for the last few years with no issues, so why the change? Upon reading the specifications of the new MSI, I liked the fact that ASUS has more features including the core unlocker that allows all cores to achieve full performance capabilities, also I've heard from friends that ASUS makes some really good bios chipsets. This board has some really noticeable features like USB 3 and SATA 6 which don't have so much of an impact on users now, but will soon in the future. Another feature which I have not seen before is the easy bios upgrade feature that allows a user to upgrade bios in bios and checks the file to be sure its compatible with the chipset. There are many other feature which I haven't had the chance to mess around with yet, like the Hybrid CrossfireX technology and ASUS TurboV EVO, not to mention even more overclocking features, however, I must admit I'm not one to overclock even with liquid cooling installed, mostly since I'm not a millionaire and can't afford to overheat a cpu, but if you have the money and experience this board will definitely take advantage of what your processor can do, also this will support the new 6 cores; also this new chipset features the Radeon HD 4290 onboard GPU that supports 512mb and has direct X 10.1 features and comes with multiple VGA outputs, HDMI, DVI, RGB. I only used the onboard when first firing her up, so I didn't get a chance to see what it could do in games like Bioshock or Battlefield Bad Company, but I can imagine being able to play at 1920 X 1080p with just about every setting maxed. If there is one negative thing about this board it would have to be that it has no floppy drive support, and while you don't really need one anyways, I did buy a brand new one, along with floppy disks, but that's just being to used to older tech since it was required to have a floppy disk to create partitions and for RAID drivers in the past.Overall, the price and technology in this board is more than exceptional and had it up and running with the first power on without any problems, ASUS also gives you some pretty good software on their driver CD like ASUS Probe 2 which has a great interface and shows motherboard and cpu temperatures. Now I just need to save some money for another Radeon card then I can give crossfire X a test run. -Great board.

(More customer reviews)I've had the Asus Maximus & Asus P5Q Deluxe and I have to say that Rampage Gene ii is the miles ahead of these two when it comes to overclocking and rock solid performance. I've been using now for a 1 month with OCZ Tri-Channel 1840MHz ram-- not once has my system crashed and I leave it on all day and night. It's great. I've been OC'ing my I7 chip at 3GHz and ram at 1600MHz 7-7-7-20 non stop. Not one hic-up. Plus you get more room in your case. I love it!!!

(More customer reviews)A little background. For intel motherboards, you need to go into the advanced memory config and change a couple of things to get this working.
a timing of 7,7,7,20 or 8,8,8,24 works fine. You also need to increase the voltage to 1.6. but the setting that really matters is the multiplier which needs to be set at 6 or 8, nothing higher or it won't post.
Triple channel works just fine, but with memory, I prefer quantity over quality.
Tested on a DH55HC and DX58SO motherboard.

(More customer reviews)Well I suppose this is a good board and Amazon was very quick in replacing it, but out of the box I was unable to enter bios. I was able to update to the latest version no problem and boot into windows vista fine but when pressing F2 all I would get was a blank black screen andI would have to reset. Strange problem, I know. There is one more problem and it's that my computer restarts at random, All parts are brand new and for my sanity sake I hope that is related to the motherboard as well.
Update: Setting OCZ memory voltage to 1.9 fixed the restarting problem, Thanks. It will be a few months before I get a chance to work on the bios problem. In the mean time if anyone else has same problem and comes up with a fix please write review.

(More customer reviews)I ordered this through Amazon with 2 day shipping and it showed up the next morning. I use this board in conjunction with an AMD PII 1090T Thuban, 4gb of DDR3, a BFG Nvidia 9800 GTX+ OC, 32 gb high speed ssd and a 500gb 6gbs pair of data drives raided together.

This motherboard is awesome, it's excellent for gamers but is tuned for over-clocking. I have actually used almost every feature on the board and have to admit, they are REALLY useful.

Their are a couple of issues though. You MUST update the BIOS (this is a no brainer and should be done regularly) and there is a bug with Vdroops and LLC= Load Line Calibration. Right now if you turn LLC off, the system suffers a MASSIVE V-droop. IE: set the system at 1.47v and it return 1.356v at load. Turning LLC on can cut back on the Vdroop, however it also raises your operating temperature a bit and is unstable with a high overclock. ASUS is working on this already, a fix should be on the way shortly, until then you can compensate by finding how large the Vdroop is and over-volting the difference. Not what I recommend doing, but it works.

(More customer reviews)Pros: Nice set up, very small, no old tech PS2 or VGA (of course you can buy an adapter). tons of USB and you can still add more from the MOBO, DDR2 800 up to 4GB, 4 SATAs, RAID support.

Cons: this MOBO is hot, hot, hot!!! Make sure you have a good air circulation in the case. I looked at the temperature in the BIOS and it was worrisome: ICH at 80 C!!!
Space is really tight but that is to be expected for a mini-itx.

Other Thoughts:
1- Drivers (for audio, LAN, and Video) are not out yet for Linux install.
2- I have intel cpu E8500 on it, it works well but the heat sink would bend the MOBO. My advice is to get plastic or metal screwsand make your own heat sink screws. Also, don't buy the retention bracket (the X form) to attach FHS underneath the MOBO, there is a chip in the way next to one of the hole.
3- Here is what I have put together and works perfectly with VISTA 64bit: HD Scorpio WD1600BEKT 2.5", Memory G.Skill F2-6400CL5D-4GBPQ - (2 X 2 Gb), 8x DVD DL/RW Sony NEC Optiarc Slim SATA Model, and PicoPSU-120 with 4pins (very important because the MB will not work without it) from mini box.

(More customer reviews)I would normally nor review a motherboard. They do what their meant for and are never noticed, until don't. I run this motherboard with Pentium D 840. I am sure that you are aware that D 840 runs pretty hot for its performance - however I am happy with mine, or at least was. I had purchased after-market cooler - Zalman 9500 which did a great job. However after I updated the bios two months ago, my CPU started to overheat once again. Naturally I assumed that the fan had gone bad until I read somewhere that the new Intel bios update takes control over CPU fan speed by default and causes drastic heating. I went back to restore my saved defaults which were saved after the update but simply disregarded by the bios updater. My temps are down with 27 degrees. I am pretty upset at Intel and even wrote to their consumer relations.
Besides this incident I am pleased with the board, supports my 4GB of RAM at a decent speed and that's all I want.
However I am fed up with dealing with Intel's overheating issues so next time I am going with X2 and not an ncore-busdeprived Intel chip.

(More customer reviews)I picked up one of these for my latest system build, and I'm pleased to say that it booted up perfectly the first time and has been running rock-solid ever since.

Here is the hardware that I'm using with it:
1) Core I7 920 CPU
2) 12GB Corsair DDR3 1600 memory (9-9-9-24)
3) Seasonic M12II 620w PSU
4) Radeon 5770 1GB (running 2 screens @ 2560x1600 & 1200x1600)
5) Intel X25M-G2 160GB SSD

I am a C programmer and I tend to use my system heavily.A typical work load would be running Windows 7 x64 with 2 copies of Visual Studio + VMware Workstation 7 with up to 4 or 5 VMs running simultaneously, and all the other source control and debug utilities that I am using at any given time.This system breezes through that like butter.

The main issue I typically have is that I keep my PC locked in an enclosed cabinet with only one 92mm intake fan and a 120mm exhaust fan vented into the garage - both are running at low speeds to keep it quiet.Because of that, my hardware needs to run solid at fairly high temps.In this system, the CPU temps have gotten as high as 160F and I haven't seen any instability at all.

I used to only buy Asus motherboards until a few years ago when their quality started to drop off.Now I only buy these Gigabyte 'durable' boards and they have all been true to their name for the kind of stress I run them under.This board hasn't had any problems at all going in or out of standby (S3) either.

Personally, I don't overclock anything anymore (I got sick of burned up hardware when I blew up my P90 system 15 years ago); but this motherboard is extremely flexible if you are inclined to do that.

Overall, I highly recommend this board if you are looking for a solid entry in the socket 1366 space.

(More customer reviews)I've been building computers since NT4, and I'm amazed how technology has come, so far. I'm specifically impressed with the Intel DG45ID MOBO. Built specifically for Media Center use. This MOBO works really well with my Vista x64 Ultimate. I watch Blu-ray, HD DVD's, and online movies. I set this up with a quad core processor, 8GB RAM (Corsair), on an Antec case. The built-in HDMI (video card) passes audio and video. I've tested other MOBO (not an Intel), & their built-in HDMI (video card), does not pass audio. This video card can only achieve 1080p, at 60hz. So if you have a 120 Hz TV, it will bump down to 60 Hz.
Good luck with watching Netflix movie, using this video card. There's some DRM, management rights issue.
There are no legacy peripherals/hookups on this MOBO; all SATA, USB, Firewire connections. I don't know how the integrated RAID controller performs, since I'm currently not using it. The only suggestion is to have integrated wifi included on this board. I'll purchase this MOBO again, if someone wants me to build them a Media Center.

*** April 2009 Update ***
I purchased and hooked-up the Sony STRDG820 Receiver. The Sony works really well with my HTPC. I'm still using the integrated HDMI in the MOBO.
Last week I updated the BIOS. I found out that I'm way behind and I could not update using Express BIOS update. I had to update using Recovery or Iflash. I don't have a USB floppy, so I updated using my USB stick. The app that I used is the HP USB Disk Storage. You can download that app for free. You should be able to create a DOS startup disk, with the downloaded BIOS, .BIO extension file from Intel.
BTW: I'm using the Corsair XMS2 PC2-6400 800 MHz 240-PIN DDR2 Dual-Channel Memory Kit - TWIN2X4096-6400C5. I have 8GB RAM, and BIOS setup for auto; my current memory speed is 800MHz.
Also, I'm not experiencing that weird DRM Netflix issue anymore.

(More customer reviews)I replaced all the office Pentium/CRT units with Atoms/LCD displays and saw our power consumption cut by 50%. But a recent client required us to work with several Excel sheets with a total or 300,000 rows and the Atom started to bog down and VLOOKUPs started freezing on me.

I stumbled upon this great board in Amazon and promptly setup a test unit with a Core i3-520 and 4Gb RAM - the speed at which those Excel files loaded/worked blew me away.

I'm using the on-board DVI output coupled with a low-profile Radeon 4350 video card for a dual-monitor setup. For applications that requires raw processing power, productivity is definitely way better than the Atoms without sacrificing power efficiency.

The Core i3, on-chip HD graphics capability, HDMI port, and power-efficient design makes this a much better choice as a HTPC than the Atoms as it doesn't choke on 1080p or Blu-ray movies.

A great compromise between power consumption, processing power, and price!

Intel DP55SB Desktop Board (LGA1156, DDR3) Review

(More customer reviews)The Intel DP55SB motherboard; It is part of my first computer build. I am fairly young so it did take me a while to carefully choose and buy this motherboard XD I had trouble running the new build. The system was dead. After testing out the power supply, I wasn't sure whether the problem lay with the motherboard or the i5-750 processor.

I was impatient as any other person would be and decided to ask Amazon for a replacement of the mobo. But the night before I was planning to send back the items I tried them again.Tested the board and CPU on the bench. Ahh... It turns out the CPU was not seated properly. Tested the board and the CPU in the case with everything connected. Again, dead. Starting plugging and unplugging cords. Oh damn, for some reason I cannot connect the fans to both the power supply and the board. Hey, I'm no computer wiz and I have no idea why... Anyways the case was alive! It was sheer happiness at this accomplishment, building your own computer!

So now onto the board itself, it is Micro-ATX, therefore it does give room for additional fans and stuff... Yet it still delivers the same goodies as its daddy, the DP55KG. Note that it just has less PCI slots. Bluetooth? Haven't tried yet even though that's the reason I saved up for this board. Though the abundant USB ports are good as well as the HD audio support. The Intel "Desktop Control Center" is a must for overclocking and such, its like a cool-looking bios.

In conclusion, please don't give up on any motherboard and deem it as defective when your new pc does not turn on. Mess around with the cables and such, make sure the processor is seated properly, and don't curse at the mobo =D. It supports SLI if you're into that stuff, overall the DP55SB is definitely a reliable motherboard. Oh by the way, it only supports certain type of memory (DDR3 1066/1333 MHZ). Just check the Intel site for the recommended memory modules. Cheers!

SPECS:
I chose this motherboard, 4gb (2x2g)Corsair XMS 3 1600mhz ram,the new unlocked Intel i-875K processor cooled by a Corsair Hydro H50.Also went with Ultra X4 750 watt modular Power Supply, Hitachi 1gb 7200rpm Sata HD, Lite-On 24x DVD+RW, the LEXA S Case, and the EVGA GTX480 video card, and Asus XONAR Essence ST Soundcard.I have a 30 inch Dell 3008WFP Monitor, Apple Blue-tooth Wireless Keyboard and Logitech Performance Mouse MX to complete out my build.I am running Windows 7 Professional 64bit 1 user OEM.

INSTALL:
It took me most of a Friday night to get this built.Mostly because the back plate of the Cooler doesn't fit correctly, I had to live with some bow in the back plate to get the 4th screw in.But all and all not too bad.It booted fine the first time.I didn't realize you can't use a Blue-tooth Keyboard at first so I had to grab an older cordless usb Microsoft one to actually set up Windows.The motherboard lined us great with my case and the SATA Cables and many of the other cables were able to route behind the motherboard through rubberized holes in the case.I had no issues installing the motherboard at all, just fine, and well laid out to plug in 4 fans, a water cooler, sata plugs, case front panel wires, power wires, etc.A+++

PERFORMANCE:
I didn't know how to overclock anymore after 10 years.So I read some stuff googling and wasn't sure and instead just used the Intel Desktop Control Panel to experiment.I ended up setting the Ram to 1600mhz and only changing the multiplier to 29x in quad config, 30 in three, and 31 in 2 and single core.I get a score of about 9,000 on CPU Mark.That was all I needed to do, no changing voltages or any of the rest of it.That is what worked best and has run cool and solid ever since.

FEATURES:
The blue-tooth doesn't work for my Apple keyboard, it recognizes it, lets you type in the code but loses connection, so I use a small usb dongle instead.The Video Card sits fine.There is some bling you can turn on in the bios for lights and a blue skull with glowing red eyes.I turned it on high since I have a case window.The real feature is the Intel Control Panel.It shows temps, overclock settings and fan speeds and lets you save profiles.That is a great feature and now that I am done overclocking, I don't use the bios anymore.I also downloaded the latest drivers and firmware from Intel.Paired with the Asus Soundcard (got because of the powerful headphone amp built in) I just use Grado SR-80 and Sennheiser RS140 wireless headphones and a set of Altec Lansing FX6021 speakers.

FINAL IMPRESSION:For me this was a good jump back in to building my own computer.I wasn't satisfied with anything pre-built that I could afford.Building my own let me spend in the areas I valued.The Intel Board was a great choice because it runs well and is very expandable with a second or even third video card and lots of SATA and USB Ports.Get one!

Lots of ports (the usual USBs, Firewire, Ethernet, 7.1 audio HD plus an external e-sata), nice built in audio. Very easy to install: I've never built a computer by myself before and was able to do it without any problem, just using the included manual. No problems installing the CPU and CPU stock cooler. (More customer reviews)I recently (yesterday) rebuilt my computer.My old MOBO was an ASUS P4P800-E Deluxe with a 3.6 Pentium 4.I put this MOBO in with an AMD 4000+.I have yet to try and stress out my dual PCIe eVGA NVidia 6800GT's in the SLI configuration yet, but the board and processer seem to work together extremely well.This MOBO has connectors for everything.For example, there are twice as many USB connecters on the MOBO than on my old one.Very handy for me as I have lots of USB devices.

I will warn you to buy an up-to-date ATX power supply like my 500w Rosewill RE502.This MOBO really needs a LOT of power.Not as much for the motherboard itself, but when you run 2 high-end SLI enabled video cards and 3 SATA hard drives in a RAID 5 configuration, you'll need not only abundant power, but the octopus of connecters that the devices need.Sure you can buy adapters, but upgrading a 20 pin to 24 pin MOBO connecter and a handful of other adapters can almost equal the price of the new power supply.

What's that you say...you aren't going to be running multiple GPU's and hard drives???Why are you buying this MOBO then??

COMMENTARY:
This board is very stable and fast, use my amd 5000 + at 3.0 GHz with a temperature of 32 0C in windows and playing a full day, maximum temperature of 48 0C.

It has the lowest price for board using the 790FX chipset AMD, good design and solid capacitors with a high
performance, good realteck ALC888 HD Audio 7.1.

THE BIOS: ver. 1.4, excelent for overclok, estable and complete.


UNIQUE PROBLEM:The Pipe circles and the PCI Express 1, 16x is very close, if you buy an HD-3850, 3870 ETC will have to adapt, because they collide.

I have a hd3650 and I have no problem, but purchases a hd3850 and I'm worried.SHIPPING:
