Software is ok and picture wall is also interesting. iphone app is not that useful, can only search though all files that have been uploaded - folders are not shown. UPDATE 1 month later.AVOID THIS!! Software crashes and files on the drive have also been found corrupted. Tried to work with Hitachi online help and support is depressing at best. They have no interest in helping issues to be fixed.I would not reccomend buying this at all.
-->UPDATE several months later: Hitachi offered to fix my drive, but in the end it looks like it could be something with my PC specifically, although I will never really know.The drive itself has been working fine. Only anoying part is it launches the install app to install the LifeStudio software everytime you plug it in. In the end the support I got from Hitachi was eventually ok - but we never did get the software to work on my laptop. I just use RSYNC (rsync.net) software now and it works great with the drive and has an online option. You need to get the older version to do drive to drive backups, but it works great, is simple but still tells you exactly what files are beings affected.

(More customer reviews)I have a Crosshair III Formula MB with a AMD Phenom II 965X4 BE 140w CPU.Starting my computer my CPU temp would be 32c after a few minutes it would raise to 45c doing normal things like playing music and surfing the net. I couldn't play games like Call Of Duty Modern warfare 2 or Battlefield Bad Company 2 without the CPU overheating past 60c in a matter of minutes. If I tried to run Prime95 it would overheat my CPU in a matter of seconds.

I install the H70 in about an hour,luckly I watched the video a while back on installing the H50 because the instructions for this thing are useless! Starting my computer for the first time it was at 32c after about 5 minutes it when to 34c. I started checking everything because this thing has never ran this cool. I ran prime95 about 45 minutes and the top temp was 45c(what? that's what I use to idle at). I went back to music and this review while running Spybot S&D and I'm at 37c.

I would have given this product only 4 stars because of the poor installation instructions but I'm so darn happy with the performance that I have to give it 5 stars. The instructions say to set the fans to draw in cool air from outside the case but that can cause a rise in temps for your other chip sets I have mine set as exhaust. Make sure you have room for this because the radiator is twice as thick as the H50.

(More customer reviews)I purchased 4 of these units new at the same time.Upon receiving them in 2 different shipments one was defective and returned.After talking with the company on several different occasions they refused to send a new unit, and instead sent a refurbished one.I could have purchased a refurbished one cheaper to start with.
Since purchasing several months ago,I have had 2 others crash/lock up.Multiple conversations with technical support have proved useless and even more frustrating.Out of the 5 drives that I have had, one came defective, 2 have crashed, and one more has crashed today. Being a professional photographer and having to depend on storage units, this is NOT one I would recommend.

(More customer reviews)Ordered this last week because I needed a really cheap back up PC. You get the slim tower, power plug, usb keyboard and optical mouse. Windows xp is pre-installed without service pack 2 and my order came with a dvd/cd player installed but no rewriter. All i can say is that it works. If you're looking for a basic pc to just browse the net and download music and videos(no hd) then it's fine. Obviously you'll want to upgrade the ram, video card, and hard drive if you plan on making this your main pc but for something cheap to hop online and do some stuff it's great. While the 2.8 pentium 4 processor is ancient it gets the job done for basic tasks. I'm still amazed that this only cost $65 before shipping. I've seen people on craigslist selling old models like this for $100 and more.

(More customer reviews)After a couple of blue screens and the keyboard failing on my, up until now ,trusty 4 yr old Dell laptop, I went shopping for a new one. Its amazing how much computer you can buy for the money now. I decided that since I mainly check email and generally just use the computer at home for the internet, that the smaller netbook size computer would be nice. I looked at Dell,Toshiba,Acer,Asus,Lenovo, and this Sony. Specs wize, they are all very similar. I liked the idea of a larger 250G hard drive on this Sony and the other specs seemed to be up to par with the rest of the lot. The one thing that sold me was the constuction quality and the styling. It is very clear from the moment you open the screen that this machine is a notch above the rest in terms of quality of construction. Its very sleek and modern looking in appearance and very light in weight. The screen is extremely bright, much brighter than the Dell in battery mode. The keys all fucntion well and are well spaced even though it is, I believe a 89% keyboard in size.
I think the key to this computer performing up to the standards that its look implies is contingent upon uping the RAM to the 2 gig max it will take. If you watch the video on youtube on how to do it its simple. Just be sure to remove all the screws so that the keyboard comes out easily and then switching out the RAM located under it becomes literaly a snap. you can buy the Ram from Amazon for around $40.00 or so and put it in yourself. Be sure to have the battery disconnected and THEN press the power button to discharge all elecricity.
Don't concern yourself abnout the fan noise as mentioned by other reviews as it's really nothing and barely audible in use. If you are looking for a thin ,light weight computer with great styling and functionality you will not be disappointed.

(More customer reviews)I bought this for 3 reasons - 1. RAID 1 mirrored backup, 2. Data protection and 3. In hopes of greater transfer rates with 2 Gb NICs versus the TS-109 model. Initializing the mirroring process took hours on 1Tb disks, Data security works as described and transfer was slow...I ended up decoupling the NIC's and using one NIC to get reasonable speeds. Now I realize I needed a switch with port bonding capabilities. Otherwise it works as advertised. Good investment - pricey.

My office Intel X25-E (only 64GB and the same price, although SLC) gives 240 and 170.

This is the only SATA III SSD on the market, and it shows the potential of this drive.
I can compile ahuge project in Visual Studio 2010 in 1/10 th the time it takes on a regular
drive. Ditto for videos.Random read writes are an unbelievable 50 times faster than a WD Velociraptor.

Other than a PCI-E based SSD (which are rather untested at this point), this is the safest bet.
And Crucial is as solid a memory company as it gets.

Other stuff:
You needSATA 3 cable (and a good one; if you are getting low speeds it is almos always because of a bad cable)
or the wrong port.

I updated the firmware without problems (or wait till they do it on the production versions).
Of course you need a SATA 3 motherboard, such as the Asus P6x58D and a good enough processor or the processor starts
being the bottleneck (say a core i7 975 or 980x).
