A little background. For intel motherboards, you need to go into the advanced memory config and change a couple of things to get this working.
a timing of 7,7,7,20 or 8,8,8,24 works fine. You also need to increase the voltage to 1.6. but the setting that really matters is the multiplier which needs to be set at 6 or 8, nothing higher or it won't post.
Triple channel works just fine, but with memory, I prefer quantity over quality.
Tested on a DH55HC and DX58SO motherboard.

I purchased these recently for my i7 build and I wanted to keep the cost's reasonable. These were some of the cheapest 6GB 1600mhz kits I had seen available. Patriot has a good reputation and also offer a lifetime warranty so it wasn't a hard decision for me.

I got the sticks and popped them in my Asus P6T and it booted right up. Set the XMP profile and off I went with my RAM goodness. No issues trying to get them to run at the advertised speeds. Just worked... which is something that does not happen often in the tech world.

Basically, good RAM for the price, works as advertised and Amazon shipped them out quickly.

You know I was between a rock and a hard place when I bought this RAM for one of my Core i7 920-CPU builds in June, and I waited a couple months to publish this review so I could tell you all about the overclockability of the RAM, how COOL it runs, what it looks like up close and personal, and give a better impression than just a simple 1-week test-session might give, so here we go... It's a bit shorter than my regular reviews because I don't have a lot of time to delve into this tonight, but I'llmostly likely come back and amend it with some in-depth comments later.

I think it's important to get something up here about this SDRAM because it's so cheap compared to Corsair, OCZ, and G. Skill DDR3 SDRAM at this time, and you have to wonder about it...1) Is it so cheap that it won't work well? 2) It is so cheap that it's not going to look great in my build? 3) Is it too inexpensive for my expensive build? 4) will it overclock worth a darn?

I wondered about those things when I was getting ready to order the RAM, and I hesitated ordering it for those and other reasons, but you know I've had such bad luck with Corsair and OCZ RAM lately (see my other reviews on RAM!) that I just decided to go for it and try this stuff out, you know what I mean!? I figured What The Hay! "The OCZ RAM that I tried two batches of failed miserably, and I don't have much luck with the cheap Corsair RAM either, so maybe Patriot's RAM will be worthy of my build and work fine," I told myself...so I ordered it. And I did NOT regret it either!

This truly is Bargain Basement RAM with a total cost of less than $130 once you figure in the Rebate (currently $20 on this RAM, which you might see sometime next year--the way companies take their time to give a Rebate to the customer!), so your risk is quite small with respect to how much Patriot Gamer 1600Mhz RAM costs compared to the other brands. For the buck$ I rated this one 5 stars after using it for 60 days or so in an overclocked Core i7 920-series CPU-equipped OEM build.

Overall I rated this RAM 5 stars, and that is because it gave me no trouble until I started overclocking the RAM to 1650Mhz and higher, and it's a No Can Do for that whole idea!! A small overclock it will do, and I mean like 10-50Mhz total (1610Mhz to 1640-1650Mhz is fine, but no higher!), but that is IT Baby! Do not expect this 1600Mhz RAM to give you 1700+Mhz capability like bargain-basement G. Skill RAM does, unfortunately, but it IS good at stock ratings, and that is the good news.

I experimented with all of the timings extensively, upped VDIMM to as high as 1.70V, changed other BIOS settings like QPI to be variable and flexible, loosened up the controls basically to allow for some variations at higher voltage settings, and I couldn't get it to click...it just refused to overclock higher than 1650Mhz no matter what I tried, and I am a bit of an expert at doing this sort of thing I assure you nice Amazon.com readers, it's *not* uncharted waters for me to OC RAM and CPU's.

In this case the CPU was willing but the RAM was not, so I dispensed with ideas of running the Patriot Gamer 1600Mhz RAM higher than 1610Mhz, which is my actual speed for the past 60 days or so with my Core i7 920 CPU overclocked to 4210Mhz (4.2Ghz) with 100% stability doing Folding@Home @ 100% CPU Load...no errors, lots of completed Work Units, and very, very cool running RAM in this build. So I was happy to get what I could out of this batch of RAM, achieving perfect stability at its rated speed/Mhz but not any higher, sorry about that!

It will run without errors or problems at or about 1600Mhz, and slightly higher, and certainly it's stable everywhere below 1600Mhz, so rest assured your build will not suffer if you plan on running up to 4.2Ghz or so with the Core i7 920 CPU, and slightly higher to boot...just don't expect a miracle for this kind of $$$'s, that's all I caution people about.

When you set up this RAM in BIOS be sure and peg the VDIMM Voltage at 1.60V-1.65V and you will be good, and slightly higher works fine also without uncorking the RAM's guts and burning it up...don't fret about that, because as we all know (experienced builders know this) that "a little VDIMM" works wonders with stability on overclocked Core i7 CPU's, as their memory controller is embedded in the CPU and you need some voltage to get the thing stable at or about 1600Mhz, and 4.2Ghz CPU speed...it's just mandatory to do this. Don't try and achieve stability with wimpy VDIMM, go ahead and crank it up a little bit and watch your system get stable, run nice and cool, and pass all the tests just fine!

That's about it for my take on this Patriot Gamer 1600Mhz RAM, and I will add more if there are any issues or problems as time goes on with my setup, but so far SO GOOD! Don't worry about purchasing it, it will work, the quality seems to be there up to 1600Mhz rating speed, as long as you Pony Up and adjust the VDIMM correctly in BIOS to 1.60V--1.65V, and run the RAM at its 9-9-9-24-74 suggested timing--voila, and BAM! You will be up and running with your system just fine, UP TO RATED MHZ (1600Mhz) and NOT MUCH HIGHER!!

A quick take on "how it looks" in the build (Classified EVGA E760 motherboard, which is black and red with blackout chrome fittings!), it looks great! Of course it's not up to Dominator standards in terms of looks, but it does look just fine on my Classified EVGA E760 board and GTX-285 video card, yessir it looks just great with that combo in my all-black Cooler Master case.

I recommend the Patriot Gamer 1600Mhz RAM 100% to all of you who are having difficulty coming up/justifying $200+ to buy the rather expensive "other brands" that you know will probably work just fine also, but why bother with that whole idea when you can spend a paltry $130 or so on this RAM and be stylin' and good to be going!?There is nothing wrong with frugality in this case, as it turns out that this Patriot RAM is a good choice after all...I've done my experimenting with it, and now you too can benefit from my work with this nifty, xlnt 1600Mhz RAM.

Try it, you'll like it, because I know I did!

Well I had read a lot of reviews before buying about DOA sticks, but figured at the price plus rebate, no one had a better deal.First let me say because of the concerns of DOA sticks I ordered from amazon instead of newegg or any other computer company because of return policies and that was a SMART decision on my part.all other companies require you to send back your defective merchandise before they send a replacement, well if its the only RAM you have, that means you can't use your PC for 2 weeks! In my case I did receive defects, at first I thought it was only 1 stick as the other two passed Memtest86 and windows mem check without problems.I asked amazon for a replacement and they sent the replacement the same day (2 day UPS!!!) and said to send back the bad RAM after I received the replacement, that is AWESOME customer service on amazons part.

Well I thought everything was running okay with the 2 sticks but shortly realized that when I tried to open any movie files (no matter the format) or actually just click on the folder they were in, windows 7 would freeze or shut down!I was about to cry (manly cry) because I had spent hours setting everything up on my new build and SSD and thought all my old data was lost!I had all my drivers updated BIOS configured to standard for cpu and memory, but couldn't access the files.I even re-installed windows, after hours of setting it up.Well an hour later UPS came with my replacement memory (remember 2 sticks I was using passed all memory tests).I popped in the first stick (like to test one at a time) and it ran okay, then I went into windows, clicked on the media folder and it OPENED!I was couldn't believe it, the problem was the memory when all the tests showed it was okay.Which means all 3 sticks were bad, not just the one (the one didn't even pass 5% of the tests). One thing I noticed was the replacement RAM had a green color to it (like pictures on amazon show) the memory I first received was black (I thought it was just the dye they used).

I rated it 4 stars because I know have 3 working sticks, which windows rated a 7.8 which is amazing.no issues, runs everything perfectly, and amazon was great with the replacement.the 1 star taken off was because of POOR quality control by OCZ, obviously this is a common problem and you probably have a 50% chance with your order.that has to be fixed.for $130 after rebate, memory that runs at 1600 8-8-8-24, 6 GB, you can't beat it.

oh and you have to configure yourself, if you are looking for an upgrade and don't want to mess with BIOS, don't buy this, if you are comfortable in the BIOS, go for it.just have to set the timing yourself and the multiplier.don't be upset that on default windows and your board see this as 1066 memory, the i7 chip is set that way, easy to change yourself though.8-8-8-24, 12X multiplier on standard bclock, and set your Voltage for the ram to 1.64 or 1.65(standard is 1.50 which is not enough, specs for this are 1.65)

This was one of the cheapest 3x2Gb CAS-7 RAM available as of last weekend when I purchased it.Amazon delivered it a day early, which is always nice.My new system works lightning-fast, so I can't complain!

Just had to change one simple setting on my Gigabyte mobo to realize the advertised specs... (XMP=disabled should be XMP=Profile 1) and all of a sudden, it went from the mobo default CAS-8 at 1.5V to the memory default CAS-7 at 1.65V like advertised.Easy-peazy for an amateur techie like me.

This memory is monstrous, although smaller case owners beware, as it looks the part. Its very tall and is maybe five times the height of normal memory sticks. Its also much heavier than normal memory, but with having a steel exterior, thats to be expected.

Performance wise, it does the job with ease and was simple to install, as it should be, fitting perfectly onto the board. My motherboard recognized it immediately and there were no issues associated with defective memory.

The highlight of this purchase for me was the fact that this is a three stick set, which I got at a GREAT PRICE on here and am kicking myself for not buying two sets instead of one.It definitely beats trying to price shop and buy 2GB sticks individually and going through all of the motions that brings.

I dont know how compatible this memory will be with older boards, but if youre looking to do a memory upgrade on an existing board and its compatible or if youre building a new system, you cant go wrong. It was good enough for my vicious, new build and unless you're trying to go bigger and better than mine (which most arent), it will be good for you as well.

Got these on I7 920 + ASUS P6X58D Premium.
So the story was like this
I started the computer overclocking the CPU to 3.32GHz, 1.35V, Memory 1604MHz, 1.65V, 9-9-9-24 (default timing), failed to install windows.
Then I went for CPU 3.2GHz, 1.35V, Memory 1546MHz, 1.65V, 9-9-9-24, BSOD upon entering windows.
Then I went for CPU 3.1GHZ, 1.35V, Memory 1497MHz, 1.65V, 9-9-9-24, prevent me from installing a logitech C910 webcam for some reason. I didn't suspect the reason was the memory at the first instance, and thus clocked my CPU back down.
So I set the CPU to default frequency and default voltage, memory on 1600MHz, 1.65V, 9-9-9-24 BSOD;
Then I thought to myself, is this CPU really F**ked up?(it's a second hand one) So I increased my CPU voltage to 1.35V again, without changing anything else. BSOD.
It's at that time I started considering if it was really the memory's problem. So I set the memory to 1333MHz, 1.65V, 9-9-9-24. Everything was fine, the webcam installed.
So I started investigating my CPU's potential. Without trying twice, I got 3.4GHz at 1.2125V, (I picked this combo at my whim), memory is OK at 1340MHz, 1.65V, 8-9-9-24.
This is not satisfactory and therefore I returned the item to Amazon, which usually works pretty well and I hope it's going to work well too this time.

Don't listen to W. Garrahan's review.
This kit, if put in a proper I7 motherboard with tri channel and 3 slots will be fine.
XP won't recognize the 6gb ram but will not slow your pc down at all.XP 64 would be better but I'd go windows 7, I won't install vista or Vista64.

This kit is rock solid, superfast and easily handles more voltage and oc.

This kit is great. It comes with 3 sticks of 2 GB each and the fan (which might not be really needed...) and screws for the installation of the fan.
I bought this for my first built, along with a corsair PSU.The setup is not really hard, you set the frequency, the latencies and you are good to go. The reason for the bad rating follows.

The good:
High frequency, low latency, well built, nice heat sinks, lifetime warranty, great consumer support by corsair. My current config is 1600MHz, 7-7-7-20-T1 @ 1.65v.

The not so good:
No instructions, not a single sheet with specs, which in my opinion is unbelievable. How much costs a single sheet with stock configurations?? 5 cents??Most of other kits have their specs in the corsair website, but as of 14 November 2009, this one has none...

I posted my question in their forum and got an answer within a few hours. I was very impressed with the precision of their answer and the speed, for this reason, consumer support + helpful community, I feel obliged to keep the overall in 5 stars.
