(More customer reviews)I've been using the same Dell 360 with high end video card all day, nearly every day, since 2002; that's nearly seven years with NOT ONE mechanical issue. I think Mr. Rock Fan has been putting rocks in the computer fan. My machine has crashed a couple of times--mostly due to my own negligence. A world famous Photoshop expert friend of mine uses mostly Apple computers, and his crash too. None are immune.

Yes, I agree, the USB ports should be more accessible, but I have a couple on my Dell monitor which I use most of the time, offsetting that problem. Other than that, this computer is getting a little old, but I can still run AutoCAD 2004, Adobe Illustrator CS, and fairly large Photoshop files without it bogging down much.

Just to be reasonable--you can probably buy a better, faster, computer elsewhere, but for budget minded small companies who want the most for their money, Dell is still a major contender, and one of these days, if my computer ever breaks, I'll go for another Dell in a heartbeat. Dell's professional workstations are built with solid industrial components and, if configured properly in the beginning, are highly reliable in my experience. By the way, the amount of projects which have come faultlessly out of this computer is quite staggering. All told, I'll bet that I've produced over ten million dollars worth of projects, and never lost a file.

I would buy last years' top end professional workstation computer with a high end graphics card and and Intel Core2 Duo processor, throw in 2-4 GB of memory, a DVD burner and you're good to go for at least a few good years of solid service. Keep up the maintenance by defragging the hard drive and protection from virues with software like AntiVir.

The LED technology is a significant upgrade, and if you want to display HD TV programming, you will be blown away by the quality of the picture.I do wish Apple had included a Blu-ray player as at least an option instead of the 8x Superdrive, but that is a minor complaint.The Quad-core processor enables this machine to reach speeds that were only available before on high-end professional work stations.

Unsure at first about the new wheel-less mouse, I have come to appreciate the ease of finger swiping, as well as the Bluetooth wireless technology for both the mouse and keyboard.I still miss the numeric keypad on the keyboard, but not having to deal with a wire tether more than makes up for it, and another advantage is that you don't have to use a USB slot.

If you want to run Windows, Bootcamp provides that option along with Parallels.Although not officially approved, you can install Windows 7 with some minor adjustments.I will not go into a comparison of Snow Leopard and Windows 7, but in my mind once you get used to Apple's Snow Leopard, you will not want to go back to Windows.If you are considering an IMAC purchase, my recommendation is to go for the best.You will not be disappointed.The speed, beauty, and screen size of this IMAC makes the choice easy.

(More customer reviews)Sony's newest style is visually stunning with lots of cool features, but..... the speakers suck.They are way too quiet and they don't have any bass or treble control.Since they market it as a computer/tv, you would think that they would put a decent sound system in it.Luckily, I have been able to hook up an external set of speakers to it, but it takes away from the sleekness and versatility of the computer. It also comes preinstalled with way to much junk software, and no operating system cd's for reformatting.
Given that, I would still buy it because it's fresh new style.The computer itself is really thin and the screen is really nice.It is cool to look at web pages in widescreen format.I would suggest to buy it, but only if you are ok with adding external speakers.

Problem one-restore partition defective, we need the restore disk. Couldn't find it. So we call 1-800-GATEWAY. We are told, get this, that only if you buy direct from the Gateway website can you call 1-800-GATEWAY. If you purchased it anywhere else you have to call a toll number. WTF!?!?!?!? So we call the toll number. After making us go through the restore routine again and wasting our time, we are told we have to spend $20.00 to get a new restore disk. Again, WTF!? It costs them $20.00 to burn that disk? NOT! Do NOT buy a Gateway. They do NOT support their equipment.

The first thing that happened to me, and as I found out later, others, was the cd/dvd player. It appears to function but doesn't. Mechanically it works. However, the computer does not recognize any disc or carry out any command. It just says to put a disc in an already full tray. The next problem was the wireless keyboard. At first it was some keys and then it would not respond to any keys. Batteries didn't matter. Those 2 problems were remedied by outboard units from other companies. Then the mouse became a problem. Another purchase.
I beefed up the RAM on my own to make the unit run faster and that helped but many other upgrades are not just cost prohibitive, they are just not possible because of the physical makeup of this all in one unit. I am stuck with a graphics card that won't allow many programs to run or allow updates like the new "Vista"
The service pack2 for windows disabled my "magic stick reader". When Sony was asked why, they had no answer or solution. They said they would let me know if they found a resolution. So far, nothing. 2 years gone by now and since then the video connections for TV have stopped functioning. The remote control for this has also stopped.
It just seems that all the bells and whistles that made this attractive initially have gone by the wayside and all I have left is a mediocre desktop that can't be upgraded.
Would I buy it again? NO.
Would I look at a Sony again? Not based on the way I was treated. No help or resolution. (Thanks Sony)
Sadly there are no other options other than Mac that offer a product like this so I will muddle by and wait till it blows up and then get a laptop that comes close to it.

I am stuck with a graphics card that won't allow many programs to run or allow updates like the new "Vista"
The service pack2 for windows disabled my "magic stick reader". When Sony was asked why, they had no answer or solution. They said they would let me know if they found a resolution. So far, nothing. 2 years gone by now and since then the video connections for TV have stopped functioning. The remote control for this has also stopped.
It just seems that all the bells and whistles that made this attractive initially have gone by the wayside and all I have left is a mediocre desktop that can't be upgraded.
Would I buy it again? NO.
Would I look at a Sony again? Not based on the way I was treated. No help or resolution. (Thanks Sony)
Sadly there are no other options other than Mac that offer a product like this so I will muddle by and wait till it blows up and then get a laptop that comes close to it.

The Basics

Hard Drive: Whether used in the office or in other rooms, the 80 GB hard drive(ATA-100 Ultra) is roomy enough for your multimedia needs--from digital audio and images to recorded TV programs.
Processor: The 2.4 GHz Intel Pentium 4 processor offers enough speed for your work today, though it is at the midrange of speeds for this processor. It has a rather fast front-side bus (FSB) of 533 MHz and a 512 KB L2 cache.
Memory: The 512 MB of built-in memory (PC-2700, DDR SDRAM) is a good start for power users. It has two memory slots in total, with a maximum memory expansion up to 1 GB (2 x 512 MB).

Record and watch your TV programs with the Personal Video Recorder powered by Giga Pocket Engine.
