(More customer reviews)I bought this box as I wanted a small, less power-hungry system, that can still be customized to some extent. My setup consist of 4GB DDR3 memory (Corsair TW3X4G1333C9DHX), an Intel Q9505 Core 2 Quad (2.83GHz), a 1TB Western Digital Harddisk (WD1002FAEX) and a Pioneer DVR-218 drive. Contrary to Shuttle's web site, it not only has a DVI-output, but there is also a 15-pin D-Sub VGA output, although I must say I have not checked whether it works.

Installation was easy, except that the Intel CPU cooler was a bit more difficult to make stay snapped into the board. Shuttle provides power connectors for up to three SATA devices, but only include one SATA data cable and one IDE cable. As almost all DVD drives are SATA these days, you may need to order an extra SATA data cable with the system.

A Shuttle Product Specification PDF talks about a 'built-in slot bracket adapter' to give you a legacy printer port and serial port. This part is not included as the term 'built-in' may suggest. I like that the box still has PS/2 connectors so I can hook up my good old IBM Buckling Spring PS/2 keyboards.

I installed Windows XP on it (a driver CD is included) and Linux on it, both work fine, except that for Linux the Audio only comes out at the front connectors (this I still need to fix).

(More customer reviews)Great pc for the money- I looked at Shuttles last year, and for dual-core compatibility (AMD or Intel) they were all $350+. Now it's easy to build a quad-core Shuttle with 4g ram, dvd-rw, wireless, and a good hard drive for around $750!!! And still be able to upgrade to a 45nm processor later this year!!!
I was skeptical of the cooling system, but even oc'd to 2.7ghz all 4 cores stay between 34-44 degrees Celsius during fairly heavy use. And it's QUIET!!! The only noise is from the hard drive...
