(More customer reviews)Took me about 5 minutes to install the TY-ST08K, and then I forgot all about it. Works like a charm. Obviously I did not get a defective unit as J. Leo, below. One key is to buy from a reputable dealer. On Amazon or Ebay there is the possibility of leaving feedback for the seller, which gives some security towards getting a good unit.

The only negatives are that the stand is not adjustable and basically is just a firm solid support; also, the cables have a tight clearance and you may find it challenging to connect/disconnect them. I have not found this to be a significant issue for me, but it is worth mentioning.

The TY-ST08K may seem overpriced and probably is, but is manufactured just for your Panasonic plasma and is sturdy, heavy metal. If you intend to mount your Panasonic th-42pwd8uk on a table, then you need it. See my review on the th-42pwd8uk. I give this model four stars due to what I feel is a high price for a mass of metal.

I comparison-shopped extensively searching for alternative solutions. Look and you will find that other stands/pedestals run many hundreds of dollars. One would almost think the manufacturers had colluded to maintain an artificially high price for what is a very simple and inexpensive apparatus. An artisan with moderate skill in crafts would do well to build his own--and sell it here or on Ebay. That is a potential path to sweet profits in today's marketplace.
